Church of Ireland College of Education

The Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE) was founded in 1811 and traces it origins to the Kildare Place Society Training Institution. In 1855 the training institution was taken over by the Church Education Society of the Church of Ireland. The College moved to its current site in Rathmines in 1969.

In recent years the College has established postgraduate diploma courses of professional development in Learning Support and Special Educational Needs, in collaboration with the Department of Education & Science, as well as training special needs assistants (SNAs).
